Upon first glance, the Shoreditch Butchery has all the ingredients of a typical dare-we-say-it trendy East London nightspot. From its position housed within nightclub XOYO to its graffitied aesthetic courtesy of infamous street-artist and Banksy-cohort Vhils, the beauty and decay of the East is plastered across its corrgated iron walls. There's sculpture here and tables made from metal prison doors there, sprinkled with grunge and sorcery. But instead of getting hung up on itself, the true beauty of the Shoreditch Butchery lies in its ability to keep things simple. Its comfy candlelit booths and relaxed vibe is reflected in its menu options. The drinks? On draught, Brooklyn Lager from New York, Tiger Beer from Singapore and the local Redchurch Brewery's Shoreditch Blonde, bubbles for those wanting to celebrate anything/everything and three distinct signature cocktails - Vodka Something Girly, the Tequila Aperitivo and our favourite, the Giant Tropical Rum punch. Its music? A little funky but still fun. And, of course, the food? Hot dogs and sliders, using top-quality ingredients and local produce. With a Monday-Friday opening, from 5pm 'til 'very late' your weekdays can indulge in a little frivolity too, with antics like Butchery Bingo night on Mondays (like bingo but with music instead of balls since you asked so kindly) making the weekend feel that bit closer. Never underestimate uncomplicated. Simple has never looked, or tasted, so good.
