What are they offering? A lovingly restored watering hole (that’s more like a watering crater) with an unearthed skylight that lets a flood of natural light in, an epic-sized function room for all your more than functional needs, and the biggest beer Garden in Leytonstone.

That’s the building, but what’s going on inside & out? They've got the big games on Sky/BT Sports, but, you may be distracted by getting your own game on, on one of their pool or ping pong tables. Also, it would be remiss of them not to have some seriously brilliant music programming on, from low-key loveliness to a bit of hands-in-the-air DJ action. It’s a Star pub after all.

The main attraction though is their carefully curated cornucopia of drinks to tantalise the taste buds, with a food menu lovingly curated by Krapow London. Think delicious Thai Street Food and more veggie options than you could shake a bunch of organic carrots at.

They don’t do ‘regeneration’ and just plonk down without a care for the community, so, they want to get to know you, know what you want. They want your old stories, magnificent memories and new ones to be made.

I ventured further inside for a small pint of beer - which was lovely - before gladly devouring a portion of their (evidently esteemed) 'frickles'. Friendly staff and local custom to boot (not agressively).

Most of the cosy seats taken up on most Fridays we tried to visit. Seems to have lost its local feel. Quite sad about this. :-(

On Thursday December 7th, we organised a social for Transition Towns from across London and the Southeast. We couldn't specify the exact number of people who were going to turn up, but the pub was really laid back about this and reserved us enough seats for 30, without making a fuss when only 13 turned up. We of course removed reservation slips from the other tables after an hour had gone by. Respect on both sides! (and lovely vegan and veggie choices on the menu too)
