As the proprietor, Sean Sullivan, pulls their pints he tells them how he’s putting on a comedian this week as well as the mandatory Sunday afternoon striptease act. My Sharona by The Knack comes on in the background and the backpackers, beers in hand, move through the smoky pub towards the stage to await the days entertainment. The Church is born.
30 years, 8 venues and about 1.5 million patrons later, The Church truly has become a world famous institution. A ‘must do’ on any OE list. Revelry remains the order of the day with comedians, strippers and great classic tunes to boot. As the saying goes, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
