It was the worst service and worst food any of us had ever encountered. I was appalled and, despite very rarely leaving feedback on restaurant visits, I felt compelled to share my experience with other potential guests. This was the response, now removed, to my legitimate and entirely accurate complaint which you can still find on Trip Adviser's website. Well worth a look... Sean R, General Manager at Poppy Red Birmingham, responded to this review, Grace, May I first apologise for your "so called bad visit" to Poppy Red! Right then, your table was the last table that was served on that day, you were according to the system our 122nd table so you can imagine for a small place we were extremely busy. As well as running a bar outside. The toddler in the kitchen must be me (thanks for that) I am actually 27 years old and my kitchen is run by 2 other chefs one who is a bit younger than me and a guy who is very older than me so I am not sure if your comment about the toddler really stands! The lasagne which was served to you is the same lasagne we serve to all out guests, and I can be totally honest with you when I say NO ONE has ever complained about them, I can however confirm that we did run low on cheese that day so maybe the cheese given to you wasn't sufficient. You stated that you has to wait forever for your food to come, I beg to differ that you waited forever grace, forever is a lifetime not an accurate time, however again having checked our very clever system I can see that you waited around 22 minutes for your food which was excellent considering on that day you was all told 45 minutes wait time. Regarding the table service, my staff are trained to the best standards possible, I don't think there comical I believe they enjoy there job, the manager you spoke to was right in saying she wasn't the chef (maybe that was funny) but having overheard the conversation it appeared that you was the confrontational one, nothing but a loud mouth stuck up girl that was showing off in front of her friends. (that's me being polite) I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO REMIND YOU THAT YOU AND YOUR AUDIENCE ATE EVERYTHING ON THE PLATE SO IT OBVIOUSLY WASNT THAT BAD AY! And you are correct in saying she did retreat the bar (well observed) and we didn't shake our heads at you maybe that was you and your clans reflection in the mirror as you walked out shaking your heads, taking photos of the poppy red sign. All in all grace you came to our establishment with the mind set of getting free food, all you wanted to do was look good in front of your friend so for us to lose £50 worth of food for you to look clever it was well worth £50 for me to see and respond to this review. To everyone else that sees this review and my Personal response, I'd like to say that it's not my usual response but had you seen this group of hilly Billy's you would understand why. So grace on a serious level I would like to apologise to you for our shockingly bad service and our failure to meet your needs as a customer, I would welcome you back for an all expense paid meal or 4 however as your last comment said AVOID I Don't think you would like to so we will leave it there. Anyway thanks again for the review. Regards Sean (toddler)
