As you might have guessed from the name, Mick's Garage was once 'home' (or at least workplace) to an old mechanic called Mick. So, as you'd expect from CRATE, everything here is charmingly worn and torn. ShukShuk (the name of the Middle Eastern smokehouse found here) is housed in a shabby shack made from rusting corrugated iron whilst the dining space here dons a communal, mess-hall vibe.
Snag yourself a seat in this charmingly asperous space and sample a chalice of LAs new favourite thing - fermented tea. Boasting a sour taste - somewhere between vinegar and cider - try yours however you'd like; still, sparkling, infused with a fruit purée, or even as a mixer for a spirit! But if that isn't your cuppa, there is of course a cracking selection of all of CRATE's delectable craft beers and ciders too. And the food here is every bit as important as the tipples on offer - ShukShuk (which is run by the same folk behind Berber & Q) will rustle up a myriad of middle eastern goods including maple-glazed merguez sausages, ‘low and slow’ lamb mechoui (spit-roast), and a smoked chicken shawarma!
