Charming. Perhaps some drunken patrons subject bar staff to such 'games' but we certainly don't and customers shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush. The drinks were pretty pricey too. We briefly checked out the Red Room and Embassy but neither were to our tastes. A little while later back in Flares we were treated to quite the display as a customer was being ejected from the dance floor area by the security staff. This is nothing unusual on a night out normally but in this case it stuck in my mind as the chap being ejected was restrained by one security person, such that his arms were held down, and another security person took the opportunity to clock him on the chin with a swift right hook. The chap was resisting being removed from the dance floor area but he certainly wasn't swinging any punches or even kicking out with his feet that I could see so quite why he deserved a right hook I don't know. I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw it so I asked a couple of the friends I was with if they'd seen it too and indeed they had, my eyes weren't deceiving me. The chap was a big dude and I guess old habits die hard for door staff - wait until the customer can't defend themselves then take a cheap shot because they know they wouldn't stand a chance in a one-to-one encounter with him. None the less, I don't doubt the chap had done something to deserve being asked to leave and as long as you don't get yourself into a similar situation such heavy-handed security staff will not be a concern for you. After about another hour or so with the place filling up almost to bursting point, and the Christmas songs starting to be played by the DJ we made a swift exit and probably won't be back for a good while. Ironically, I could only recommend this place if you were in quite an inebriated state* such that what I've described above wouldn't be a bother to you! *but not SO drunk that you catch the attention of the security staff...
