We had booked a table for my partners birthday yesterday and was looking forward to enjoying some excellent tapas. We had been years ago (on our first date) and rated the food then so was looking forward to it. Upon entry the service was disorganised. As the sun was beaming and it was obvious that customers outside were given priority. We sat in as there were no table available which was fine but waited 15mins before I had to ask to be served, of which the hostess was less than impressed that I had asked her away from sorting cutlery. We ordered a good spread (9 dishes between 2) over an above the usual as it was a treat and wanted to try a few things on the menu. We had ordered paella but were advised they had ran out. I asked if they were still serving rice and fish to which she said yes. Her response was “oh we only cook it in one batch so when it’s gone it’s gone”. I should have left then and saved myself the trauma. On a good note we asked to be seated outside if one table came available which it did. It’s a shame to say the ONLY positive I can say about this restaurant is the sunshine, something they obviously didn’t provide. The “sourdough” bread came out first with a bowl of sharing olives. The presentation was sloppy and looked like they had ran out of bread, had ran over to Sainsbury’s to grab the last baguette and diced that up, serving 5 badly cut pieces with a glug of pesto. The remaining dishes came out as they were ready, each a very minimal portion, sloppy presentation and an obvious sign they were unskilled in the kitchen. When asked if everything was alright with my meal I responded that the portions were exceptionally small to receive a smug reply “well it is tapas”. I was stunned. To top it off they had overcharged us on the bill for the items they had “sold out” of and had to get that amended. All in all, for someone who eats out in Leeds all the time I would never eat in this restaurant again. They need to shake up the service and dramatically, improve the skill set in the kitchen and consider what they are serving as a portion when charging what they are per dish. A waste of time and money. Good job the sun was shining...
