Part student hang out, part long-standing local favourite, it is a well known live entertainment venue that effortlessly blends old-school pints with the up and coming artists of the modern comedy and music scenes.
This Victorian era watering hole has adopted a trendily ramshackle yet comfortable character.
Adorned by a collage of posters and exhibited art, bedecked with vintage lampshades, leather armchairs and a well-worn piano, visitors are made to feel as if enjoying a night out in their own living room.
The Amersham Arms is a venue which hosts a wide selection of events including film and poetry evenings. It offers space for exhibitions in it’s Take Courage art gallery. Anything goes at the Amersham. Both fire breathers and various TV comedians have enjoyed the opportunity of performing here… alongside the regular live music and DJ nights.
With a veritable variety show of entertainments throughout the week, Amersham Arms is also home to Happy Mondays the long established fortnightly event; as recommended by The Guardian and deemed “an excellent comedy club” by Time Out, and “South London’s Best Comedy Night” by Secret. This is where the well known hone their material including Russell Howard, Andy Parsons, Andi Osho, Stewart Lee, Arthur Smith, Sarah Millican, Greg Davies and MC, Holly Walsh.
