The door staff refused us entry for a friend having worn tracksuit bottoms under his jeans in December in London. He explained he was cold and will happily take them off, as he understands it was a condition of entry. He was outright refused. My friend offered to take them off in their presence, which was also refused. They explained he "could be a drug dealer" which I thought was disgusting and inappropriate to stereotype. He was then denied entry after pleading that we travelled from SE London. My other friend had a bottle opener attached to his keyring which was then identified as an "offensive weapon". The door staff told him they would take it then he would be let in, but would not receive it back once he leaves. Which sounds similar to theft. Another door staff insulted my occupation stating I should be "charged double" for what I do. After I felt it was time to leave. We had seen a friend in the smoking area which is completely fenced-off (caged) and spoke to them. The security then told us to go away from the street. Unsure why, and understanding they don't cover the street. We carried on conversing. Within a matter of seconds more security appeared as if there was an incident and started to point at us. The bottom line is; I felt victimised from before gaining entry to the establishment. My friends were stereotyped and I personally believe that there was a strong racial undertone during this. I say this because there was no logic in the conversation with the door staff. Also the goalposts were being moved by them. Good luck to whoever attends future wise.
