Venue spotlight: Studio 338
Ever since the pandemic started last March, we’ve all been starved of social interaction. At first, it just meant more nights on the sofa and much less crowded public transport; over time however, it came to feel as though something was missing from all of our lives.
That feeling of being in a club, surrounded by friends and strangers, staying up all night just because you can, was irreplaceable. Netflix just wasn’t cutting it anymore. A club is more than just a place to drink, dance, and get off with each other; it’s also a place of community, a place of no judgment, where anyone can feel like they belong.
That’s why we’re super excited for one of our favourite clubs in London to be making a comeback. Studio 338 is a south London “mega club” located just by the Greenwich Peninsula Golf Range as well as Ecology Park at 338 Boord Street, North Greenwich, London, SE10 0PF. Its closest station is North Greenwich Underground station. With a huge dancefloor, multiple levels, and balconies so you can watch everyone getting trashed, this venue really is deserving of the title “mega club”.
Since July last year, they’ve been open on a table service basis under the guise of Pub Tropicana. Don’t get me wrong, I love a cocktail or two (or three… or four…) and they’ve pretty much been getting me through the second and third lockdowns. However, nothing beats an actual night in the club.
Having been open since the weekend after ‘Freedom Day’, Studio 338 is set to host some of the biggest names in dance & house music: Sankeys, RELEASE, Space, La Fiesta, Home, Brunch, and lots more. They’re not stopping there either. They’ve promised to bring us a 10 weeklong series of incredible parties to celebrate the return of life as we once knew it. Sounds pretty great, huh? Tickets are going fast but there are still spaces available here.
On their website, they are very keen to remind us that these will not be socially distanced events: this means that they will only go ahead if we are allowed to dance, with the music played at usual levels and no restrictions stating that you must stay within in a specific area. I don’t know about you, but this is music to my ears – literally!
Also coming up at Studio 338 is All Day I Dream, an all-day club event featuring massive names such as Lee Burridge, Pippi Ciez, Sébastien Léger, and Jim Rider. Now you really can party from AM to PM, to quote the immortal words of Christina Milian…
