19 July is going ahead – here’s what we know
Boris Johnson made the final confirmation today, that clubs and festivals will be able to open up again.
In his address to the nation at 5PM, the Prime Minister stated that England will go ahead with plans to exit Covid restrictions on 19 July.
The date, known as Freedom Day, will see the end of social distancing rules being enforced. However, Boris Johnson has urged the public to continue to wear face masks in enclosed spaces and public transport – as a means to control the virus.
As for clubs and festivals, the end of restrictions means they are able to reopen next week. The Prime Minister insisted that events and club spaces should utilise NHS Covid Passes for entry – which hold information on vaccination statuses, immunity and test results.
The news comes as a surprise due to the rise in new Covid cases – but of course, we are buzzing!
Make sure you head out from 19 July but be aware and safe. Happy partying!
