Save Our Scene protest in London – a banging movement against club closures!

Thousands of London nightlife and live music lovers lined the streets of London last weekend to protest the lack of support towards the industry during the pandemic.

 

Closing off Regents Street, the Freedom To Dance march protested through song and dance the ongoing restrictions that are preventing the re-opening of nightclubs and music venues.

 

This comes after Boris Johnson moved the initial 21 June end of restrictions to 19 July, pending a data review on the effects of Covid-19. Further, health secretary Sajid Javid said he wants to see the end of restrictions as soon as possible, though that decision would be “irreversible”.

 

Protesters supported the cause by shaking and swaying to the beats blasting from the speakers of a moving truck. With live DJ’s such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Eats Everything and Low Steppa supporting the carnival-like atmosphere through their performances, protesters took to the streets to celebrate the joys of music – and what they are missing.

 

Here’s hoping the government fights for our nightlife culture, because we sure are!
