BBC Radio 6 Music Festival
As days grow longer and weekends brighter, it really does feel like festival season is finally on the horizon.
And this weekend it begins with BBC Radio 6 Music Festival.
Starting from Friday 26th March and running all weekend long 6 Music are supplying the goods. They have brand new live sets from the likes of Bicep, Michael Kiwanuka and Poppy Ajudha. So, expect to join the fun on iPlayer, with performances filmed in London at the iconic Ally Pally for your viewing pleasure.
Poppy Ajudha’s music is a blessing, while crafting soulful grooves into journeys of jazz, Poppy reflects upon prominent issues in our society. Representing women of colour and empowering us all to have no fear. Writing, directing and featuring in her latest music video for her tune ‘Weekness’ demonstrates the power of this femme, who uses songwritting as the ultimate therapy. We cannot wait to see more. Follow @poppyajudha on instagram for dreamy clips of her jams at home and coloured hair inspo.
Along with the new, 6 Music has exclusively released some old but classic sets to BBC Sounds. Including Little Simz, Loyle Carner, Young Fathers and more, you are guaranteed some good times nostalgia.
Known for his “confessional hip-hop” style, Loyle Carner has made his name performing across the British festival scene since 2015. Being nominated for the Mercury prize and two Brit awards he has become a sensation. Through collaborations in the Kitchen with none-other than Ottolenghi, Loyle has even set up projects which shed light on ADHD while teaching London youths how to cook. His latest release ‘Yesterday’ is a perfect example of his skill in balancing uplifting beats and wise words. And alongside Little Simz, Loyle is secured at TRNSMT festival this year. Ladies, Loyle Carner is the guy you want to take home to your parents.
With the freedom to enjoy a festival from the comfort of your own kitchen or sofa, we think BBC Radio 6 Music Festival is the perfect pre before the season ahead.
