Festival Preview - Field Day Festival 2021

On 10 July, Field Day is FINALLY returning!

This year’s festival promises to bounce back with a whole new world of electronic sounds!

The festival, after a year’s postponement due to COVID-19 restrictions, is back for its 13th year, and plans to, as usual, attract a wide crowd of festival-goers from across the UK. Having previously changed venues between Victoria Park and Brockwell Park, as of 2019, the metropolitan festival settled into its new North London home in Meridian Water, with a capacity of 25,000.

Taking place at The Drumsheds, Field Day is unrivalled for warehouse festivities and pledges only the best electronic music has to offer. In addition to continuously creating a boundary-breaking warehouse music experience, Field Day is also one of the few festivals which eggs you on to party into the late hours of the night – staying open until 3 am! With its location by the side of Tottenham Marshes and shielded by industrial buildings, it’s guaranteed to be an extra loud and thumping party!

What’s even better, is that you don’t need to wait until the day to experience the world-class production and banging basslines! The festival has a fantastic build-up too! In the run-up to the date, the founder of Field Day and Eat Your Own Ears collaborates with radio production company Folded Wing, to host a series of radio shows and mixes with the hottest musical guests – including Pixies, Solange, Four Tet and Grimes.

Alongside the assurance of popping dance music that can make even the stiffest groovers move their feet – you can also expect tantalising visuals that move in conjunction with the sounds. A unique musical adventure, the festival accommodates an ever-changing aura - creating an atmosphere fit for a sizzling sun, while perfecting a rave-like warehouse experience as soon as evening arrives.

Though usually covering a range of genres, this year’s day-long festival has stuck to its world-renowned house and techno sounds. Playing are inimitable DJ’s such as BICEP live, Artwork, the Blessed Madonna, Floating Points live, Mall Grab, Ross From Friends and many more.

Sharing sounds which range from acid house to UK garage and all the way to industrial techno - Field Day is the perfect festival for ravers with a taste for sounds that bang.

Headliner Insight:

BICEP live

If you haven’t heard of BICEP yet… where on earth have you been?!

The duo from Belfast rose to fame for their fluid, yet unusually crisp produced debut self-titled album. Distinguishable for their stand-out hits such as Glue and Orca, alongside incredible remixes like that of the mystical Opal by Four Tet, they have always been an unmissable live act – rapidly selling out performances at venues such as Printworks, and debuting at Coachella in 2017.

A household name for their unique, airy production; the pair offer to each live performance a completely new and vivid adventure into completely immersive, experiential dance music. There’s no doubt then, following the release of their innovative second record ‘Isles’ last year, that their set at Field Day is going to allow you to reach a completely new realm.

Adelphi Music Factory

Built upon the idea of bringing peace during a time of increased instability, Adelphi Music Factory is a new, industrial northern collective that is pushing for revolutionary change through music. Housing a range of creatives and music makers (including but not limited to the Blessed Madonna (who is also playing the festival solo!), Gerd Janson, Disclosure and Annie Mac) their innovative live show is not only bound to be a powerful and fresh look into what freedom via music means - but is likely to be sonically remarkable.
