Summer Motives - what can we expect when the sun’s out?
Today sees the opening up of London and a step towards a safer and hopefully sunnier, future for everyone.
The past year has displayed how wonderfully innovative the hospitality and events industry can be - with the likes of Love Saves the Day’s fundraising and food boxes for those in need, and DJ EZ’s 24-hour live stream for mental health charity, MIND. There’s no doubt that virtual clubbing and distanced events, prior to lockdown, brought us together in ways which we didn’t think were possible.
Still, following the announcement of the ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown on February 22, an exciting new life is emerging, and it finally feels like the clouds are clearing.
By June 21, we can hope to have pre-pandemic partying, events and fun all back in action. Not long till you’re sipping on that mojito, in the blazing sun, with your mates chatting your ear off and thinking ‘ah, I wouldn’t want it any other way!’.
Still, with so much excitement building up; from festivals to outdoor bars and to the football – it’s hard to know where to begin! That’s why at Licklist we’ve been laying the groundwork for the best events there are to offer.
After all, with summer 2021 quickly approaching, you don’t want to be left out of all the biggest summer, dare we say, of all time!
Here are some dates for your diary and bits to look forward to:
Hospitality is returning!
If you, like us, are dying to be in the pub with your friends or have been dreaming about that one pizza place with toppings like no other, you’re in luck!
With the staggered easing of lockdown rules, hospitality venues will gradually be reopening. From 12 April, pubs and restaurants can reopen for outdoor purposes and in line with social distancing rules.
Outdoor hospitality was hugely popular last year, in fact, you could even say it was the highlight of the summer. This year, why not swap your gloomy daily walk, for some spring sun and a pint in your hand?
From April 12, you can even meet your friends and family in outdoor hospitality venues (without curfew!) up to the rule of 6. You’ve really got no excuse not to!
Indoor seating for pubs and restaurants is also planned to resume by 17 May, fulfilling all your dreams of boozy meals and eating until you feel like you’re going to explode.
Nightclub life will be back and booming!
Nightclubs have been unable to operate since March 2020, when we were met with the first coronavirus lockdown. However, our year-long wait is being rewarded and nightclubs have finally been proposed to reopen on 21 June!
This date comes as the final step in the ‘road mapping’ plan, in which the Prime Minister has stated the governments hopes to lift restrictions on larger events, alongside removing the social contact limits.
If you see us out on a bender… mind your own business, (or party with us)!
UEFA Euro 2020 Football Tournament
FINALLY, the Euro’s are arriving!
After its postponement last year, football fans are over the moon to hear that Euro 2020 (now Euro 2021) is poised to go forward this summer.
Set to begin on 11 June and wrapping up on 11 July, the month’s festivities will be a fantastic way to celebrate a new kind of summer for football devotees and casual watchers alike.
Much like the zestful June-July of the 2018 World Cup, this year is promising more open-air footy viewing and sunny pints with a side of goals!
If you thought that summer was the best, you can think again!
Get ready to Love, Pub & Grub!
We know you’re dying for more Love, Pub & Grub – there’s no use trying to hide it!
The hugely popular event of the summer is back in April for its famous outdoor pub garden experience.
Based in the heart of East London, it’s the place to be for a refreshing drink, some grub and an all-round party.
Unfortunately, all tickets up until 21 May are sold out, however there are plenty of other dates which still have dates up for grabs. Super early bird tickets begin at £8 and are rapidly selling out, get yours while you still can!
Festivals… welcome back!
Since Boris Johnson’s roadmapping announcement, many UK festivals have revealed their plans to go ahead this summer – and many have even sold out.
With an abundance of camping and day festivals to pick from – we’re not sure how you’ll pick! But, to help out we’ve rounded up some of the best festivals on our radar here.
