Love Saves The Day Festival 2019
Love Saves The Day Festival 2019: Welcoming Summer The Right Way
Love Saves The Day Festival is back in Eastville Park for its eighth year this May (25th-26th). Humbly beginning as a one day event, LSTD has since gone on to be a cultural hub of new talent and big names. Bringing together underground acts from Bristol’s thriving music scene as well as already established superstars the annual two day event has become a Bristol institution for both locals and outsiders alike. With a relatively small site, the festival has an intimate feel but fear not as every inch of LSTD is filled with adventure. With an aesthetic that can be described as somewhere between an interactive carnival, a concert and a garden party, the organisers have an experienced insight into how to engineer a quality festival experience. And with the backdrop of Britain's most culturally diverse city for up and coming musical talent, Love Saves The Day is firmly at home in Bristol.
The Music
Are you an avid music fan with nothing to do this May bank holiday weekend. Look no further. Love Saves The Day has you covered. This year smash lineup is a coming together of the biggest names in dance, dub and much more.
Top of the bill singer, songwriter and all round Brit sweetheart Lily Allen will be performing this May. As one of the first artists to emerge through social media, Lily Allen built her initial fan base from her Myspace following. But following the release of first album ‘Alright, Still’ featuring smash hits such as ‘Smile’, which charted in first place in the UK she truly established herself as a household name. The debut collected award nominations at the Brits, Grammys and MTV music awards. Her follow up, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ further showcased Allen’s talent at capturing the spirit of her generation in hits such as ‘22’ and ‘The Fear’. The singer took some time away from the music industry to pursue a comfortable family life. However after returning last year with a groundbreaking new album ‘No Shame’, nominated for the mercury award, as well as a tell all memoir, she is well and truly back. With a back catalogue of crowd pleasers that we have all grown up with, make sure you catch her this May.
Electronic duo Maribou State will be bringing their dynamic dance floor stylings to LSTD. The outfit consisting of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory has been steadily building a name for themselves through a series of well-received EPs and a sprinkling of skillful remixes of artists including Lana Del Ray, Kelis and Fatboy Slim. Capturing the attention of radio giants such a Zane Lowe and Annie Mac and the universal praise of the online music press, the boys have gone on to release two monumental albums from their ‘shack in the back’ rural studio. With an untiring work ethic and an undying love for all things dance floor, we are expecting big things of their performance at LSTD.
Hip-hop queen IAMDDB will be headlining the fest this year. The enigmatic act behind the name (real name Diana Debrito hence IAMDDB) has been creating music since she was seven. Now 22 and with a sound fused somewhere between hip-hop, jazz and soul, Debrito is powering through sell out tours with impressive pace. Citing a recent trip to Africa where she became heavily involved in the Angolan jazz scene as a massively influential force on her music, the singer has been described as “the most exciting artist to watch”. Working a very normal retail job in her home city of Manchester just a few short years ago, we look forward to seeing her career skyrocket.
With 15 years at the top of the their game Chase and Status will be performing an exclusive DJ set with scene legends General Levy, Skibadee & Shabba D and Brockie & Det. As English electronic royalty the group barely need introduction by this point but I will have a go anyway. Meeting at Manchester Uni through a shared passion for all things drum and bass, the outfit made up of producers Saul Milton and Will Kennard has gone from strength to strength. With 4 groundbreaking albums and a list of collaborations including Tinie Tempah, Sub Focus, Giggs and many more, the duo have become instrumental in the changing nature of the D&B genre. With years of performing experience and a fantastic stage presence, don’t miss their set at LSTD.
All of these fantastic acts are just the tip of one very impressive iceberg. So follow this link to see what great music LSTD can offer.
