Farr Festival 2017; Up in the Woods
Since its inception in 2009 Farr festival has evolved from humble roots as a smallish gathering of like-minded electronic music fans to be one of the most promising events on current circuits. Held in the beautiful uninhabited Bygrave woods, the location has an ethereal quality that is the perfect setting for some of the most sophisticated electronic acts of our time to perform. From Thursday the 13th to the Sunday the 16th of July the eighth Farr festival will take its loyal following back into the woods with a range of new stages and day time activities on top of a whole host of acts to fuel your electronic passion. In its early years the festival was rooted around a small caravan converted to be the main stage known as ‘the shack’. In years since the festival has been steadily growing in numbers and is now bigger than ever before. Although it is still relatively small in size compared to other festivals of the genre, we at Licklist would argue that Farr festival excels in its exclusivity. Despite being something of an open secret, it seems you are truly in the know as part of the Farr festival crowd. So join the other woodland warriors for another year of some of the best electronic music on the scene. As a fairly out of the way location you may need some help getting to the site. Directions and other general information can be found in the link below.

Who’s performing this year?
With a line-up set to cater to all of your dance and electronic desires, here is a rundown of just a few of the performing artists of this summer’s fest to get you in the mood. Scandanavian dance music extraordinaire Todd Terje will be gracing you lucky few. Since arriving on the scene in 2004, Todd Terje has quickly built a reputation for himself as a prominent scene leading artist performing globally to critical acclaim. Outside of the dance music world he has co-written Robbie Williams chart topper ‘Candy’ as well as producing a couple of songs for Franz Ferdinand. Berlin duo Booka Shade will also be appearing at Farr this summer. With humble beginnings in Frankfurt, the act has quickly developed into one of the biggest to come out of Europe in over two decades. Now with 20 plus years of experience, multiple EP’s and six albums later Booka Shade set the standard for quality electronic music. As one of the greatest in the scene do not miss this opportunity to see them.
Nao will be bringing her dreamy vocals and glossy R&B sounds to Farr festival. Nominated for Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards this year, Nao is an artist on the rise. Off the back of her 2016 album ‘For All We Know’, prepare yourself to witness her unique blend of R&B and transcendant vocals in action. Manchester local and now London based DJ and composer Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points will be performing a DJ set. As a highly respected artist in the DJ world, his strictly vinyl club sessions spanning multiple genres have made him one of the globes most impressive DJs. Outside of the DJ and studio based production world, Shepherd uses his classical musical training to coordinate, compose and arrange for the Floating Points Ensemble; a 16 piece group he leads that recently won the ‘Best Maida Vale Session’. As such an eclectic artist with so many sources of inspiration we have high hopes for Shepherds performance. While these acts sell the festival alone Farr has so much more music to offer. Check out the full line-up for all the act details.
