Love Saves The Day Festival 2017; The Perfect Introduction to the British Summer
Are you a Bristol local or outsider looking for somewhere fun to spend the last weekend of May. Well look no further. From the Saturday the 27th to the Sunday the 28th Eastville Park in Bristol will be hosting Love Saves the Day Festival. Billed ‘a bumper weekend of love’, the festival has an action packed line up this year that should cater to all your different DJ and dance music desires. As Bristol is best known to many in UK as the Mecca of current DJ, dance, EDM and production acts it serves as the perfect backdrop for the fest. Originally a one day event, organised with the same ingenuity by the great minds behind the ‘Wow! Stage’ at Glastonbury dance village, the festival has branched out in recent years to a full weekend of music. You will get to experience some of the original UK scene pioneers as well as up and comers still finessing their sound. The festival is set up by some of the most experienced heads in the game so sleep safe in the knowledge that all your fest needs will be met. Like with most urban events however you will have to find your own accommodation so make sure you get hunting in advance. Join the 5000 or so like-minded people heading to Eastville park this May and expect a weekend full of music, sun and beautiful Bristol surroundings; the perfect way to finish May and get you in the mood for the summer break.
Who is there to Look Forward to This Year?
With the Love Saves The Day organisers having spent some time working on different festival circuits you can trust they can put together a good line-up. This years acts are looking to be a satisfying showcase of some of the hottest sounds around. On the Saturday leading the days festivities, Little Dragon will be Headlining the main stage. The electronic Swedish band have had an exciting career; they have been linked to Damon Albarn and Gorillaz both in recording and on their ‘Escape to Plastic Beach tour’. Their characteristic mix of electronic sounds, live instruments and ethereal vocals have been met with critical acclaim; the groups fourth album Nabuma Rubberband released in 2014 was nominated for Best Dance/ Electronic Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. With a fifth studio release due this year their set should be exciting. Electronic British DJ pioneer Mura Musa will also be headlining on the Saturday. Maybe best known for his song ‘Love$ick’ which reached number one both in the USA and in the UK in the Spotify viral charts. Most recently he co-wrote ‘First Things First’ on Stormzys number one in the UK charts album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’. With his debut album set for release in 2017 ‘To Fall Out Of Love To’ his set will be a interesting introduction to many.
Other acts playing on Saturday include Welsh DJ and producer Jamie Jones, techno maestro Ricardo Villalobos and many more. Sundays lineup holds host to a whole load of DnB acts. Top DnB act and producer DJ Hype will be leading the setlist. Starting out with early roots in Londons pirate radio scene he is an artist with credibility through the roof. With a whole load of awards under his belt including Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ (1994 & 1995) his set should be one not to miss for any bass enthusiast. Bristol treasure Blazey Bodynod will be following up. A big name in the area due to being one of the first DJs to actively support the growing grime movement in the noughties his set should be gritty and innovative.
