V Fest 2017

As one of the hottest music events around V festival (Virgin Festival) needs no introduction but I’ll give it a go anyway. On Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of August a fleet of this country’s biggest and best commercial acts will perform across two different locations (Hylands Park, Essex & Weston Park, Staffordshire). The revolutionary gimmick first theorised by legendary Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker in 1996 gives populations both in the north and south an opportunity to experience the same great line-up. With a history of premier acts playing (last years line-up included Justin Bieber, Rihanna, the Kaiser Chiefs and Jake Bugg) it is safe to assume V-festival 2017 will be the best ever.

Who’s Playing

We at Licklist have high hopes for this years fest.  Up and comer Anne-Marie will be continuing her rise to fame across the V-fest weekend. At just 25 she already has a load  of accolades under her belt including two international Karate championship victories by the age of 17 and roles in two West End productions. Now off the back of a world tour with Rudimental (she features on four songs of their new album) Anne-Marie is definitely a name to watch. Irish superstar DJ Annie Mac will be returning to V-fest’s BBC Radio 1 stage after an exciting live streamed performance last year. As one of the biggest names in the EDM scene her set should not be missed by any die-hard fan. Older, wiser and almost 11 years after the teen heart throbs said goodbye, the double brit-winning act Busted will be returning across the V-fest weekend. In a reunion that the band themselves have denied for years, we look forward to the boys playing their back catalogue. After so long out of the spotlight we hope they won’t be too rusty. Possibly the biggest creator of summer anthems in the last five years or so, Clean Bandit will be appearing at V-fest this summer. With their signature combination of electronica and classical music that seems to defy logic, the three piece have gone from strength to strength since meeting at Cambridge. Their sellout debut album ‘New Eyes’ effortlessly rushed to 1.6 million sales massively motivated by the track that we all know too well, ‘rather be’ (the worlds second biggest-selling track in 2014). Expect a set full of summer classics from the talented trio, the perfect soundtrack for your festival weekend. 16 years after his debut album success Craig David is back and on top of his game. With his latest album ‘Follow-ing My Intuition’ having gone number one earlier this year including the BBC’s Children in Need single ‘All We Needed’, Craig David has jumped back into the public eye to national acclaim. We look forward to a set full of blasts from the past and new material.
