Hospitality Returns to Brixton
Hospital Records are a real mainstay of the UK's renowned drum 'n' bass scene. Founded in 1996 by Chris Gross and London Elektricity's Tony Colman, the independent label boasts some of the biggest names in home-grown dance music. 20 years after its conception, the label still finds itself on the cutting edge of the ever evolving genre.
What makes Hospital Records the preeminent label in their genre is the calibre of artists they have signed. Camo & Krooked, Fred V & Grafix, Danny Byrd, High Contrast, London Elektricity and Netsky are some of the biggest names in the industry, and all are signed to Hospital Records. However, Hospital Records is much more than a grouping of the biggest and most commercially successful artists; they also run the more experimental 'Med School' label to make sure they're fostering innovative sounds. In addition to this, Tony Colman regularly hosts podcasts showcasing the best new dnb offerings.
Despite all of this, what this iconic record label is probably best known for is their legendary nights. With a real wealth of artists to draw upon, Hospital Record's 'Hospitality' nights are the stuff of drum and bass folklore. They take place all over the country: London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield and many many more towns and cities across the UK and beyond have been graced by their thunderous presence. The label have built up a strong reputation for bringing top-notch lineups to some of the best nightclubs in the country, and that's why these nights have become a firm favourite with drum n bass fans everywhere and are a must for anyone who's into the genre.
29th April will see Hospitality return to a real hotspot of UK bass music; Brixton. What better place for a night of riotous head banging than the birthplace of jungle? As is to be expected, some of the biggest names from the label will be performing. The aforementioned Camo & Krooked, London Elektricity will be playing, as well as Maduk, Logistics and Breakage to name but a few. Additionally, Danny Byrd will be going B2B with Brookes Brothers. The whole thing will be hosted by Hospitality regulars, including Dynamite, Fava and SP:MC. The emphasis, as ever, is on hardcore drum n bass music and it therefore isn't for the feint hearted; it's sure to be a sweaty, eardrum popping nine hour long experience. However, if like most dnb fans this is exactly your sort of thing, then it certainly isn't one to be missed!
