10 Feet Tall Cardiff
If you’re looking for a night out that is exclusive, unique and a little more sophisticated, head to Church Street in Cardiff and check out 10 Feet Tall. Open every day until 3am, there’s no excuse for you not to try their diverse cocktails and take in the atmosphere. Across three floors, they provide a place where you can chill out with your mates and relax until the early hours.
Onto the cocktails and the menu is insane. Mixologist Mark Holmes leads the bar and teaches the bartenders to become talented and create each cocktail to perfection. They also give a little if you prefer less of this and an extra shot of that. Each drink it either £7 or £8 and although the menu is small, it’s unique and I bet you’ve never tried them before.
A ‘Widow’s Kiss’ is the most evocative drink ever containing calvados, yellow chartreuse, Benedictine and angostura. Never heard of half of the ingredients? Don’t worry neither have I but I trust the skills of the cocktail makers and judging by the name, it sounds delicious but lethal. A ‘Hop Toad’ is a slippery one but it’s worth ordering. It has aged rum, apricot liqueur, fresh line and angostura. The one that sounds most appealing to me is the ‘Pink Lady’; gin, calvados, grenadine, lemon and egg white- delicious.
They hold the funkiest events in 10 Feet Tall. The Death Hilarious crew are coming to Cardiff on the 15th of October for night of standout comedy. Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, Owain Davies and Chip Langley will be hosting ‘What Ya Got? Open Mic’ which you can bring music, comedy, storytelling, poetry, cabaret or anything else you want to bring. Some Tuesday nights they have life drawing classes, then later on they have ping pong. Bingo, folk sessions and blues artists, the list of evens is endless here.
This year, the kitchen has been taken over by Gareth Davies and he’s taken French cooking and given in a modern twist. A steak and chorizo burger is only £6.95 and a seared fillet of beef is £9.95 and it comes with beer battered onion rings, roasted vine tomato, grilled mushroom and chips. If this isn’t tickling your taste buds, I will be surprised.
10 Feet Tall is actually available for hire, for events or parties. Head over to their website to find out more details. Some cocktails are two for £10, so have a look at the website or get yourself down there to taste the amazing cocktails. Plus, some food is also two for £10, what more could you want in a bar? This place will no disappoint.
