Tips for girls to stay safe on a night out

Every female loves a good night out with her girls. Fact. Girl’s nights are just so much more fun than your regular night out. There’s usually more pink fruity alcohol, more gossip and at least one person drunk sobbing at pre drinks. Yep, girl’s nights are pretty great when they go well. We’ve put together a few tips for you to make sure that you and your ladies have the best, and the safest night out you possibly can.

Nobody gets left behind:

So one of your friends has had one too many at pre drinks. Her eyes are slowly closing and her she’s starting to look like Bambi learning to walk. It may be tempting to just up and leave your gal pal in the corner of the club to combat her drunken state alone. She’s not hurting anyone there, right? Pick that girl up, get her a glass of water and either head home or see if she sobers up enough to hit the dance floor. Sticking with your friends is one of the most important things a girl can do on a night out.

Know your limits:

A pretty obvious one, but something we just all love to look over. You arrive at pre drinks at 9PM, and have exactly two hours to drink a whole bottle of wine before your taxi arrives. We all think it seems doable, until you’re three quarters of the way through the bottle and you’re already struggling to make eye contact with the person who’s talking to you. Pacing your alcohol consumption through the night and knowing how much of it you can handle is super important. It means you’re more aware of what’s going on around you, plus, your slightly less hungover self will be thanking you in the morning.

Keep an eye on your glass:

This is something that we ladies have all had drilled into us from a young age, but still an important one. It can seem a bit strange and farfetched that somebody would actually want to spike your drink, but it happens way more often than you’d think. If the cute guy across the bar wants to buy you a drink, amazing! Get in there girl. However, if you didn’t see the drink being poured by the bartender, that’s when you should be weary. Don’t drink any drinks that have a weird colour or smell to them, and don’t leave your own drink unattended.

Avoid unmarked taxis:

Try not to leave after a night out on your own. At night, it’s much safer to walk home together. But, if you really do have to leave without your friends, always choose a taxi over walking (your heels are probably killing you by now already, right?) and make sure that taxi is one from a well-known company in your area. If it looks dodgy, it probably is.

Emergency cash:

It can be pretty temping to take the absolute minimum with you on a night out (usually only as much as you can fit in the side of your bra – let’s not pretend that doesn’t happen), but taking a little bit of spare cash for you that isn’t going to be spent on alcohol can be a good idea. If you lose your friends over the course of the night, you’ll have enough cash on you to safely get a taxi back home.
