Radio 1 Weekend Ibiza

This week has the worst weather coming for us in the UK of the summer so far- grab your brollies people. But wait, what’s that? Radio 1 in Ibiza? What better excuse to head over to the white isle then on the Friday the 31st to Sunday the 2nd of August? It’s like Radio 1s big weekend but for adults and with the added sun. Plus it’s celebrating its 20th anniversary, so I really don’t need to go on, do I? You’ve just booked your flight.

Radio 1s top DJs, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard are jetting off to host the weekend and some amazing acts in amazing places. Places such as Ushuaia and Hard Rock Hotel, the only venues to be seen that weekend. They are both on the beautiful Playa d’en Bossa beach, which is home to Ibiza’s party beach. Not even half-naked parades waltz up and down the beach promoting clubs and resident DJs play throughout the day. It will be busy, expensive and absolutely crazy but is the best weekend to go out.

The first event of the weekend will be on Friday, featuring DJ sets from Calvin Harris and Disclosure. So Latch on and Bounce the evening away under the Spanish sun sipping a strawberry daiquiri- they are the best in Ushuaia and they should be at 13 euros a pop. It’s safe to say Harris is now a DJ legend, you don’t want to miss dancing to Summer with your sunnies on.

On the Saturday Danny Howard takes over and brings you Rudimental and Duke Dumont. Wow. I Got U is possibly the most summer-feel song going. You’d even get Miss Victoria Baker-Harber to let her hair down and fist pump to that tune. Plus Rudimental live are life changing, seriously.

Finally, On Sunday the Ibiza legend Pete Tong will regain his Ibiza crown and give you Faithless and Kolsch. Regarded as the “global ambassador for electronic music”, there’s no doubt he will kill it. English electronica band, Faithless are often remixed by the liked of Avicii and are no strangers to Ibiza. It will be interesting to hear their set.

The weekend will also welcome Gregory Porter, Erick Morillo, Patrick Topping and Blonde. There will surely be after parties to show your face at and other Radio 1 events running throughout the weekend in secret locations. The weekend will be jam packed as every promoter pushes his or her best DJs and top drinks. You can grab a discobus that runs through the night to every main spot on the island. Plus they’re around €3 each- bargain.

You asked for House Every Weekend and you’re getting it. Tickets are available here http://ibiza2015.net/party/bbc -radio-1-weekend-in-ibiza/ Last year, crowds of thousands booked flights and spend their cash in duty free to start the party on the plane. But don’t worry if you’re not going; you can also listen from the comfort of your own home. Your home in the rain, of course.
