Beat-Herder Festival

Herd em’ up because it’s time for the 10th anniversary of Beat-Herder Festival. Taking place on Friday, July 17, to the 19th, it promises plenty of surprises to mark its double-digit birthday. The festival is held in Ribble Valley, Lancashire and it well known for its unexpected, unique additions it brings each year. About 12,000 people will rock up to enjoy a weekend as jam-packed and full as Cara Delevingne’s eyebrows.

The 2015 line up is bigger and better then every previous year. Do Your Thing this year to Basement Jaxx when they bring their electronic beats to the field. Closing a stage on Sunday night is Mistajam, a DJ, broadcaster, businessman and father- this multitasking genius is not one to be missed. Love the movie Dream Girls? Step back in time and listen to Motown legend, Martha Reeves who is being joined by her sisters to bring you ear-pleasing harmonies. Also making an appearance are the Sugarhill Gang, Levellers, Parov Stelar Band, Nightmares On Wax and so many more.

Ok, so it’s a festival. You’ll need a tent and sleeping bag to enjoy your weekend in. If you don’t fancy ruining your back on the hard grass, Beat-Herder offers glamping (don’t most festivals now?). The area is called ‘Snooty-Glamping’- how fitting. They are luxury tipis and yurts with beds and homey touches for the less-adventurous, snooty-as-K Hopkins campers. There is also a chance for you to take your campervan and that’s basically taking your home with you!

Each year, Beat-Herder holds a fancy dress theme each year, beginning with a letter (B-E-A-T H). This year is E so get your thinking caps on, maybe an egg or Egyptian- go as crazy as possible. You definitely won’t be the only one dressing up like an idiot so you might as well put max effort into it because let’s be honest, us adults do not get many chances to dress up.

Also, each year unexpected new areas appear for festival-goers to be surprised when they find them. Last year there was a swimming pool in the forest! God knows what they will come up with this year. This festival is so unexpected, it has an underground vodka bar, what better way to forget the world and have a great time than going underground and drinking vodka until you can’t remember coming back up to reality, resulting in you waking up in the wrong tent.

An adult tier 4 weekend ticket is £147.25 which considering all the performances and cheeky surprises they have in store for you, it a pretty good price. Campervan passes start from £27.50. Tickets can be purchased here https://tickets.beatherder.co. uk/order/tickets/13300056/beat -herder-2015-dockber-farm-2015 -07-17-16-00-00

So come on, buy your ticket and rock up in your fancy dress choice and dance until 3am.
