The Best Universities for Nightlife
It’s getting to that time of year when all of you future freshers will be starting to look at where to attend university later this year.
You don’t have to tell your parents or guardians, but we know you’ll be looking for a good nightlife, as well as an excellent reputation for learning. Don’t worry, we won’t tell either.
But, just so you know where the best student nightlife spots are in the UK, we’ve done some research and found the top five places out there so you don’t have to!
5) Glasgow Caledonian University.
Number five on our list is situated near the tippy top of our island and has made our list mainly for the amount of pubs on offer for you here. If you choose to attend Glasgow Caledonian, you will have over 700 pubs, which you could turn into a challenge to visit them all before your course ends…good luck.
The university itself has recommended that students visit The Flying Duck and converted church to club Oran Mor for a great student atmosphere and cheap drinks!
4) Newcastle University
Newcastle Uni was voted number one in the official Student Experience survey 2013, for best student social life and although isn’t number one in OUR list, has still managed to make it there due to it’s reputation of having a wide and diverse choice of clubs and bars to suit every need. The university recommends visiting Shindig and Digital which has seen top DJs like David Guetta grace the stage.
3) Liverpool John Moores
Liverpool is already known for having an amazing nightlife, and with Thursdays being student night, most who attend the uni here will agree with this world renowned opinion! Bars you should definitely not miss include Lagos which offers £1.50 bottles as well as excellent music, Brooklyn Mixer for it’s great DJs and VIP atmosphere, Aloha, for, if nothing else, their cocktails in pineapples and of course Heebie Jeebies which is always a favourite amongst students because of it’s social courtyard.
2) Manchester University
Just missing out on the top spot, is Manchester, another great city known for its diverse nightlife as well as cheap drinks and amazing music reputation! The University of Manchester has suggested taking a trip to Soup Kitchen and The Roadhouse. But there’s one section of Manchester which will always draw students in. And that is The Printworks. Housing bars like Tiger Tiger and Entourage; this is definitely the place to go if you enjoy your clubbing.
1) London School of Economics.
Now we all know that London is not known for it’s cheap drinks or being able to get into a club without sticking your hand in your pocket. But the reason London School of Economics has made it to the number one spot, is because of the reputation of the clubs on offer to students, and the sheer amount of places available. This university is situated in Central London, meaning you are never too far away from parties in Baltic, Boisdale and Book Club.
If none of these universities offer you courses that you are interested in, or you’re looking for different places to go, other universities that have a good night life reputation include Northumbria, Leeds, Essex, Edinburgh and Bristol.
