This is Liverpool!
Famed as the birthplace of ‘The Beatles’, it’s infamous football clubs and the iconic skyline, Liverpool has a lot more to offer than its rich heritage. The city is home to one of the best clubbing scenes in Europe and a night out here is one that won’t be forgotten quickly (if remembered in the first place). With a host of venues and clubs to accommodate all different music tastes, visitors to the city won’t be stuck for choice as to where to indulge on their first drink of the night. Liverpudlians (or scousers as they prefer to be known) have enjoyed the taste of tequila for years and prayers were answered with the opening of ‘CaVa’, the cities very first all serving Tequila Bar. Not for novice drinkers, CaVa is a great place to begin any night in the town, offering an array of flavoured tequila shots all priced at a cheeky one pound. For the ‘LADS’ looking to impress;,the ‘Chilli’ or dare I suggest ‘Baked Bean’ flavoured shot will definitely put hairs on your chest, if not vomit in your mouth.
Salt licked, lemon sucked, and it’s onwards and upwards to the vibrant Concert Square, Liverpool’s main clubbing scene and host to dozens of bars and nightclubs all within staggering proximity of each other. The square is, in essence, a massive beer garden surrounded by bars on all sides and on the adjuring streets. From Dance to Mo-town, party goers won’t have a problem finding somewhere to throw some shapes. Bringing some Hawaiian vibes to the scene, Aloha is a must for the avid conga fan, with a unique array of rum based drinks served in some very funky containers including elephant heads, volcanoes, wooden logs and fresh pineapples! Anything but the boring glass really.
Sufficient amount of rum consumed and suddenly the urge to get on a dance floor takes over. The rest of Concert Square is calling. Passing the many takeaway outlets on the way (which we keep in mind for later), Baa Bar is up ahead. Baa Bar offer a massive selection of shooters and cocktails from the ‘Rampant Rabbit’ to the ‘Deadly Assassin’, the party doesn’t start until the first shooter cake is bought and the dance floor is hit. With the latest in dance and club music blasting, there’s no better place to bust some moves and take those all-important Snapchat stories to reminisce the nights’ antics in the morning. The club is always busy and the courtyard smoking area is the ideal go-to area to cool down. Very much a student club however, also a popular place for the locals, identifiable by their iconic ‘scouse brow’ and friendly personalities. Baa Bar is a venue all can enjoy.
For the Pop Lovers in the group, there is one club that cannot be missed. With ‘Vengaboys’ and ‘Five’ anthems playing until 5am, seven nights a week, Popworld is definitely the go-to place to have FUN and let your hair down, or even your body, thanks to the many dance poles scattered throughout the club. Popworld endeavours to ensure everyone enjoys themselves; even making sure no one goes hungry throughout the night offering customers free toast to keep energy up and moves a’shaking. There’s no party like a Popworld party, that’s for sure!
On the other side of town, another popular strip is Matthew Street, the home to the world-renowned Cavern Club (home of the Beatles). This characteristic street lights up at night with an abundance of bars, vivacious energy and Hen and Stag parties at weekends. The Cavern Club is a thriving live music destination and one of Liverpool’s top tourist attractions. The club is located underground and the atmosphere is always welcoming. The walls of the club are covered with the signatures of visitors to the venue and guests are encouraged to do the same while getting into the Beatles mood, chanting along to ‘Hey Jude’ with one of the live artists on stage. Other venues on the street include the popular Revolution Vodka bar, an upmarket club which cannot be beaten on cocktails; offering master classes to show everyone exactly how to make the perfect Slim Jim Martini. Matthew street is a place ALIVE with music and a must on any visit to the city. The pulsating atmosphere is hard to find anywhere else in the country!!
For those feeling a more stylish night out in the city, they can adorn their best jacket and head down to the world famous Albert Dock. Sitting in view of the picturesque waterfront, grasping a ‘Rasberry Mule’ from the Smugglers Cover rum bar in one hand; there’s no better place to take in all that Liverpool has to offer. The beautifully revamped area of the city makes for a great evening.
If you have yet to experience all that Liverpool has to offer, make sure and book your next trip soon, you won’t regret it. See you in CaVa!
