Slipped Disco, the long running East London club night, is spreading its wings to start a new sister residency in Camden’s Lockside.
Playing all things dancefloor, Slipped Disco takes the club music of the early Seventies as its starting point and delves into the vast array of music that has grown out of soul, disco and funk - including techno, house, electro and hip hop. It will also see some of London’s most respected players take to the turntables.
For the opening night, Justin Robertson will join host DJ Ben Osborne. Resident Advisor says of Robertson: “It's hard to find a succinct way to describe [Justin}… an innovator and restless proponent of fascinating forward thinking music, lets use Legend, its sometimes over used, sometimes misplaced, but in this case its entirely accurate.”
Time Out says Ben Osborne’s Slipped Disco sets “see anything from classic techno, punk-funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite do the rounds."
Maella joins us having just played the Czech Music Awards the night before, where she wion Best Song.
Part of the new wave of creativity in Camden, The Lockside is also ingrained in Camden’s musical heritage and is on the site of the former HQ’s club, which hosted some of Camden’s most creative club events. In Brit Pop’s heyday it would see such icons as Jarvis Cocker grace its dancefloor, while also being the haunt of some of the biggest names in UK Garage and two step..
With guests to be announced, future Slipped Disco - Camden nights are on 23 March, 20 April and 25 May and then every third Thursday of the mont.
