NHAC presents Ashley Beedle + Louis Baker

20/06/2014

About this Event

Ashley Beedle

Louis Baker

*There is limited free guest list available for our FB friends!

Please email > nhacglist@gmail.com with the title '"Ashley's list" if you would like to be on it...

It's also free before 9pm and we really recommend that you get down early as there's a very special 'front room' live set by LOUIS BAKER from 8.30pm and it's the only London Date by the super-talented, blue-eyed soul singer-songwriter from New Zealand who's fresh from playing at Field Day and Sonar! (Listen to 'Birds' from his recent EP – https://soundcloud.com/louisbaker).

Louis will play this intimate solo acoustic set before heading back to Australasia to play Byron Bay's infamous Splendour in the Grass festival.

With a voice producing shades of Motown-era soul, the songwriter's endearingly honest lyrics, mesmerising melodies and vocal ability leaves no question as to why international media have touted this native New Zealander as one to watch.

Early on there are *free tastings* of Kiwi 'Old Mout' ciders too, with special deals throughout the night.

From 9.30pm ASHLEY BEEDLE launches into his brilliant fortnightly residency. We're never sure which styles he'll be playing and we like it like that, because he's got a deep knowledge of every style under the sun, be it house, hip hop, reggae, punk, symphonic soul or raunchy '70s rock, what matters is if has the passion, funk and flavour to light up an Ashley Beedle DJ set. We're looking forward to him playing an extended set of Heavy Disco diversity...

Fortunately for us, Ashley Beedle is a resident DJ every fortnight on Fridays here and, as he explained in a recent interview, that gives him all the scope he needs to be adventurous: "I've started a residency at Notting Hill Arts Club where I play the whole night and as my musical tastes are so eclectic, it means I have time to take people through so many different styles and vibes and I want to bring black music back to West London. Soul, funk, R'n'B, boogie, hip hop, house and, of course, reggae. What we're trying to promote in there is positivity and there's a strong spiritual vibe. I want to bring a Message in the Music."
