Suzy Conrad & Angela Sheik - UK Loop Pedal Champions
About this Event
Heads up, fans of innovative music in the vein of Bjork, Imogen Heap, Saint Vincent, and Bat for Lashes; this
spring BOSS USA National Loop Champion Angela Sheik joins fellow gear head, musical groundbreaker, and
BOSS UK National Loop Champion, Suzy Condrad for their first combined UK tour, Radial Dream Tour. Don't be
fooled when these women breeze onto the stage with a set of bells and an autoharp, they are fierce performers
with a knack for tech, catchy songwriting, driving rhythms, and spell-binding musical surprises.
Angela and Suzy met at the 2012 BOSS World Loop Championship in Frankfurt, Germany. They immediately
gravitated toward each other's trailblazer spirits and appreciation for artful songwriting. Soon after, it was
apparent that they also shared a long list of common musical influences. It wasn't long before dreams of a
collaboration began to form, despite their distant hubs. Normally operating as solo performers, they will be
performing a combination of solo sets and collaborative material. For both of these performers, much of their
songwriting is based around the use a BOSS RC300 loop station, a device that allows them to create impromptu
background tracks at lightening speed in front of a live audience.
Angela Sheik is based in the Philadelphia area, USA, where she has been recognized with numerous awards for
her songwriting, performances, and recordings. Her dark, Portishead-like grooves and yearning, unabashed
vocals combine into a style reminiscent of Zero7's Sia Fuhler days. She has toured throughout the US and
Europe, but this is her premier UK tour. For more information about Angela, visit www.angelasheik.com.
Suzy Condrad, a Bristol UK native, has a soulful 1940's-50's throwback sound that may have you thinking of
Jesca Hoop. The resilience and fun in her musical style is also undeniably influenced by the electronic style of
the '80's. “Suzy is a skilled song writer,” says music blogger, Tracy Evans. “She's quite adept at making a
technically complex performance look easy and natural, when in reality it is demanding, super hard, and requires
a great deal of practice just to pull off, much less making it look so relaxed.” Her latest self-released album, “She
Of Little Faith,” is a reflection of Suzy's remarkable arranging, songwriting, and production skills, using little more
than her versatile vocal and beat boxing. For more information on Suzy, visit www.suzycondrad.com.
Too innovative and techy to be considered folk, too relatable and singable to be purely avant-garde, these
pioneers blend innovation with heart. Their combined performance is not to be missed. For more information
