NHAC presents Ashley Beedle & Nathan Haines
About this Event
Ashley Beedle
Nathan Haines
Fortunately for us, Ashley Beedle is a resident DJ every fortnight on Fridays here and, as he explained in a recent interview, that gives him all the scope he needs to be adventurous: "I've started a residency at Notting Hill Arts Club where I play the whole night and as my musical tastes are so eclectic, it means I have time to take people through so many different styles and vibes and I want to bring black music back to West London. Soul, funk, R'n'B, boogie, hip hop, house and, of course, reggae. What we're trying to promote in there is positivity and there's a strong spiritual vibe. I want to bring a Message in the Music."
For Ashley Beedle, notions of genre mean little. He's got a deep knowledge of every style under the sun. Be it house, hip-hop, reggae, punk, symphonic soul or raunchy '70s rock, what matters more is if it sounds right and has the passion, intensity, funk and flavour to light up an Ashley Beedle DJ set. We're looking forward to him playing a specially-extended set of Heavy Disco diversity...
It's always special when Ashley Beedle launches into a four-hour set for his residency here, and tonight there’s a very special warm-up set as longtime Arts Club friend and internationally-renowned saxophonist and composer Nathan Haines DJs with his partner Jaimie from 8-10pm. As a musician Haines has worked alongside the finest DJs for many years but now Mr & Mrs Haines are the ones spinning the tunes, both on Mi-Soul radio and on the decks here – listen up for soul, jazz, boogie and more. As for Ashley Beedle, well, he's got a deep knowledge of every style under the sun, be it house, hip-hop, reggae, punk, symphonic soul or raunchy '70s rock, what matters more is if it sounds right and has the passion, funk and flavour to light up an Ashley Beedle DJ set.
