WE WERE EVERGREEN
+ ROOSEVELT
We Were Evergreen recently announced details of their new single ‘Daughters’ due on March 3 through Mi7/Island Records. This track is the first single to be taken from their debut album ‘Towards’ - released on May 5th.
Michael Liot, Fabienne Débarre and William Serfass, outside of live shows, spent most of 2013 holed up writing and recording the album with Charlie Andrew (Alt-J etc) down in Brixton. The results of which, all three are extremely proud to call their debut.
‘Towards’ is an exciting amalgamation of beats and rhythms from across the world, a combination of warm vocals and electronic-pop melodies displayed as a collection of universal modern tales that draw on the power of images to create songs both happy and dark, whilst predominantly feeding on the carefree fun of just being young.
"We have evolved in the process of making this first album, which is why it is called Towards. It is about going somewhere, anywhere, even if the direction doesn't make sense. It is about movement versus stillness, body versus mind, personal mythology versus collective memory. And we can't wait to get moving all across the UK to present this album on our first actual headline tour. " WWE
Intrinsic to the We Were Evergreen philosophy is their vital live show. Having built up a super-strong live following after early shows at SXSW, CMJ and Secret Garden Party and support slots for Little Dragon and London Grammar, the band have already played their own sold out shows across Europe, including Village Underground in the UK.
They are now extremely excited to confirm a full headline tour to accompany the album release across the first half of May. Kicking off in Cambridge on May 1, they take in 12 shows up and down the UK before completing the run at The Scala in London.
