BOLYGOMUSIC PRODUCTIONS PRESENT
QUIMBY & IAN SIEGAL
In 2011, Quimby one of Hungary's most innovative and popular alternative rock bands celebrated their 20th anniversary. This 6-piece outfit has released 11 albums; contributed to a variety of Magyar film soundtracks; provided the music to two major theatre productions - including a critically acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and headlining the world renowned Sziget Festival. They create intelligent art rock - forceful; melodic and moving; constantly pushing new boundaries and stylistically unique, arguably with a nod in the directions of Nick Cave, Lou Reed and Tom Waits. Tonight they will be showcasing material from their superb latest album entitled "Kaktuszliget.
“most people simply find its music and lyrics incredibly moving, if not hard to resist.” - Sziget Feti Festival
Ian Siegal take command of the stage in a manner very few contemporary artists can equal. "Sweat, passion, humour, balls-to-the wind slide guitar and a soul-infused voice big enough to fell trees!" His career got underway in 2003/2004 with two successive European Tours as the opening act for ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings. This was soon followed by UK tours as a duo with Bill Morganfield son of the late great Muddy Waters. After releasing a series of very well-received albums (for instance, his 2009 release 'Broadside' topped MOJO's annual Blues Album Chart), he returned to North Mississippi to collaborate with local legends that he collectively dubbed The Mississippi Mudbloods. Joining him were Cody Dickinson and Cody’s brother Luther Dickinson, and Alvin Youngblood Hart. Ian Siegal first met the latter during "The Skinny" album sessions in 2011, when the Grammy-winning guitarist swung by the studio and ended up tracking some guitar and backing vocals.
