Celebrating the timeless melodic beauty and strength of traditional Irish music Iontas (Irish for 'surprise' or 'wonder') is a new band that brings together four well-known figures from London's Irish traditional music scene. The quartet explores the full range of traditional tunes and songs, from effervescent reels and quietly dramatic hornpipes to haunting ballads, using it's rich textural palette to set the tunes in striking and earcatching ways.



Iontas are Conor Doherty; guitar, vocals, Elma McElligott; sax, flute, backing vocals, Pete Quinn; piano, backing vocals and Karen Ryan; banjo, fiddle, mandola.
