Casey K + Hattie Whitehead

04/03/2014

About this Event

Casey K’s debut EP, In Tine, was released this past March and is a sound for sore ears. She uses the blend of her smooth alto voice and sweet tone to create a signature sound of her own. In the 7 songs on the EP, Casey K. shows her range with softer, more intimate songs like “Forgotten in the Moonlight,” as well as the power, strength, and technique in her vocals as heard in “Down in Flames,” and “Stay ‘til Sunday.”

At first, her sound may seem like a mixture of Norah Jones meets Sarah Bareilles and Adele vocals with the acoustic guitar, piano, light drum, and bass stylings of a John Mayer or Michael Bublé album, but there is something about the accent of Casey K. and the soulfulness her EP that is unmatched by any artist in her genre.

Casey K’s self-written songs display her light hearted personality, deep thought, and swollen heart. Drawing inspiration from her own life and her experiences living in Maui, Casey K’s most striking gift may be her lyrics.

Hattie Whitehead was born and raised in South West London constantly surrounded by music and words. She has been singing since she can remember, taping her first album at the tender age of 3, with her dad on guitar. The daughter of a jazz musician and a poet, she heard a lot of jazz and folk like James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman and this began to shape her taste in music. Some years later, Hattie completed a music degree at Leeds University, gigging alongside her studies, and soon after finishing she discovered a passion for writing her own songs. A year later, she brought her band together and began performing her new material around London, to a great response.
