Musical Medicine ft. Jimmy Rouge

21/09/2019

About this Event

Underground rumour has it that a funky orange never falls too far from the disco tree!

For our September party we have the pleasure of welcoming James Rogers aka Jimmy Rouge, of Orange Tree Edits fame, to the Bullingdon's tables for another serotonin fuelled stomp!

Jimmy’s edits have had more than their fair share of airtime at Musical Medicine parties since our infancy. Now based in Amsterdam, the label began its life in Dublin, with the first release containing a pair of flawlessly crafted Afro-Disco arm flailers. One of which, ‘Fo-Ya’, nearly tore the roof of the place when our friend @Magnier dropped it at a previous dance!

Since its inception, the label has shown no sign of slowing down on releasing nothing short of dancefloor destroying heat! Every 12” release has been snapped up faster than you say, “ damn that’s a wonky groover!”

James cites legends like Hunee and Antal as influencers for his interest and passion for rare afro-disco and African music more generally. It felt only right that we invite him to come and share his musical discoveries and edits with us.

Along with discerning taste, Rogers expresses an unapologetic attitude towards having a good time, something we are all about. No chin stroking bull shit here. This is a man who has described good disco edits like a “rampant joy virus, leading to grown ups wearing trousers on their heads”

Come armed with your best pair of head ready leg ware folks this ones going to be a good’un!
