HISTORY

Near a large, gently spinning region of warm water (hence its name) the Meddeis School was founded by a Sir Thomas Bland.

In 1327, at a place named Kirkbymoorside., the school was well known for its use of potions, which were said to stimulate the brain and hence produce the wisest scholars in the entire county of Yorkshire.

The school blossomed during the period 1460 to 1541 with many pupils taking their knowledge to far away colonies.

Newscasters were then the wandering prophets who visited the hamlets and villages, and customary for them to lodge at the nearby village of Ryedale. It was from Ryedale that the rumours of a new Act condemning witchcraft escalated and its arrival a year later in 1542 saw the school’s closure and speedy disappearance from all visible trace.

This did not mean that school didn’t exist, it simply means that you are unlikely to see it, as entrance was from then on, only by invitation.

THE SCHOOL TERM

Induction term shall always begin during a Lunar first quarter sighting.

Pupils must send their applications to attend inside wingless envelopes so as to avoid wind interferences, and a handprint must be attached as proof of authorisation.

Arrival must be the day prior to a term’s commencement to allow for Houses to be selected.

Beowulf House will see pupils dress with bands of Red whilst Galahad must take bands of Purple.

One case only can be allowed with a weight limit of no more than one fully grown dog.

Excess baggage penalties will be charged to parents through our illusionist debiting scheme.

The Meddeis School Song must be learnt and should be sung before mealtimes and loud enough not to be heard by those seated either side.

The term itself has no defined end but will often finish three weeks before the next term is due to start. Duration will be by shadow length s recorded at midday.

Enchantment classes are compulsory and will need to start the moment you walk through our gates - noting that our gates always remain closed and so transitions must be learnt pre arrival.

Uniforms need to include glovelettes for the handling of potions and the Meddeis wands will be handed out by your house prefect.

Personal wands may be brought into the school, but they must not exceed a size of 24 inches.

Wand waving outside the school grounds is strictly forbidden.

Airobics are taught in our Flying school, Volans House, noting that applicants must have attended Meddeis for a minimum of 153 days. Pupils jumping from tall buildings prior to diploma achievement will, in the case of survival, be expelled.

The grounds extend for 26 acres and your astral powered scooters must be driven respectfully at ground level until such time that you have earned your Volans Diploma.

Finally, we welcome you to Meddeis where those who are punctual will be elevated quite literally to a class higher than that of late attenders.
