#Wigan native #Fairhurst has been honing his craft on the road combining his passions for people and music for years. The result is an awe inspiring wall of sound rooted in his northern #blues background with gritty mournful deep-south attitude and a voice to carry it home.

John Fairhurst is right at the forefront of the exciting new wave of British Blues and Rock.

#Acoustic guitar magazine USA recently identified Fairhurst as one of the Top 3 Resonator guitar players worldwide - the only European on the list.

2017 has already been one hell of a year. Hailed as “the phenomenon known as the Wigan Jimi Hendrix” (Chris Tofu, MBE) and “possibly the finest guitarist you will ever see” (BBC Manchester), John is very pleased to announce this extensive UK tour of both solo and full band shows.

Following numerous international club dates across 5 countries, over 25 UK festival shows including #Glastonbury, #Boomtown Fair, The #GreatBritishBluesFestival and #Shambala, he will be showcasing a large amount of brand new material as well as some old favourites

John has two new studio albums currently in production for release in 2018; a third solo LP and a new heavy electric album with long term collaborators Toby Murray on Drums and Justin Kool on bass. He will again be working with his regular go-to producer Alex Beitzke (Prince, Ed Sheeran, Florence & the Machine, Nigel Kennedy) and producer Bradley Spence (Radiohead, Stereophonics, Iron Maiden, The Strypes, Kasabian) This promises to be a long awaited follow up to his highly regarded 2014 breakthrough album, ‘Saltwater.’

Introduced to Sarod Master K. Sridhar at the age of 5 when he stayed with John’s family, John’s music has a distinctly eastern feel, with influences from the Sarod Master as well as his own travels through Asia. With a #bottleneck style blues referencing the likes of #SonHouse and #BukkaWhite, comparisons to the #fingerpicking of #JohnFahey, a leaning towards the #psychedelic #60s #rock of #Hendrix and #LedZeppelin and the ever present influence of K. Sridhar and Indian #raga, John’s music is a real melting-pot of diverse musical traditions freely hand picking tunes from the Mississippi to the Ganges.

John Fairhurst truly epitomises the modern day wandering blues man. Stories of hunger, listlessness, roaming and reckless abandon are just a prelude to John’s story, something that can only be fully understood in the presence of the man. John tells stories of wading into the sea off the New Zealand coast to smash raw oysters off rocks simply to get something to eat, but fortunately times have changed. He has since gone on to tour the globe, eat moderately well and entertain crowds at illustrious festivals such as #SXSW, #Glastonbury and Tarragona blues festival (Headlining slot) to name but a few. John’s enigmatic stories relayed through intense and original blues are all told using his trademark howling vocals; think #CaptainBeefheart meets #TomWaits.

John’s wanderlust character, lead him to New York in 2009 where he arrived with only a bag of clothes and his beloved #resonator. He met a fellow blues player and proceeded to arrange and perform 14 sell out shows in a 15 days, a feat demonstrating what a gifted performer John truly is. Bare chested and tattooed (by monks in a Thai temple), when John Fairhurst walks onto a stage you know you are not only about to hear incredible blues, but the tale of one mans tireless journey leaving a lasting impression wherever he stops.

This is the sound of modern British blues….
