Endless Boogie & Henry Blacker

19/09/2017

About this Event

Cacophonous Sarcophagus and The Lanes proudly welcome Brooklyn's Endless Boogie to Bristol for the first time. Also excited to be making use of the brand new stage and L-Acoustics PA at the renovated Lanes venue.

Endless Boogie

(NYC)

[No Quarter Records]

"Endless Boogie is the band you always wanted to hear. The first time I saw them play all these thoughts shot through my head at the same time — “OK that guitar player looks wilder than anyone I’ve ever seen/That is the rudest riff I’ve ever heard/Why didn’t I think of that riff/I would never dare think of that riff/ I could watch guy play that lead forever/Chuck Berry and John Coltrane/That beat is perfect NEU!/ Am I really hearing and seeing this??/Are they really doing this??” — for like an hour, and it was one song." - Aquarian Drunkard

"Somewhere between a John Lee Hooker drawl and a Captain Beefheart honk." - The Guardian

"Grizzled East Coast heads that play f***ed up rock & roll long and slow, formed via the international record collecting scene. They look like the kind of guys you might find adding cheap bourbon to greasy reheated coffee in a 24 hour New Jersey diner before a 12 hour night shift. They make a raw and semi improvised racket in perpetual motion, heavy on groove and subtle detail, circular and rough shod." - The Quietus

Henry Blacker

(Somerset)

[Riot Season Records]

"Finally England provides a credible power trio. Fans of 70's heavy boogie will love it, but it'll also appeal to folk that dig Clint Foetus, Rapeman, Kyuss, Uncle Acid, Melvins, QOTSA/Desert Sessions.

One of the (many) things I like about Hey Colossus (with whom Henry Blacker share three* members) is their unrepentant Rockist streak, and boy is that made manifest on this offshoot. The album starts with a riff that would sit quite happily on 'Grand Funk', 'Blues for the Red Sun' or ZZ's classic 'Deguello', but within seconds the Henry Blacker English Power-Boogie identity is patented.

This is the album that the maniac in the monster truck is playing as he triesto mow you down in a 70's drive-in movie." Toby Mearing

"Catchy, meaty, grubby, and bolstered by a feral Beefheartian belligerence" - The Quietus
