OUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO PLAY.
Celebrating the release of their first collection of studio tracks ‘Wellbeing EP’ Indie-pop 5 piece, Campfire Social, are a refuge from the wild woods all around. Their incandescent, melodic songs take the intimate heartbreak of Elliott Smith and embellish with golden harmonies borrowed from The Beach Boys. At times getting you up off your chairs in a passionate rage, at others just to dance but always filled with hope.
Campfire Social formed following the demise of the very highly regarded, and lamented, Shy & the Fight (Radio 1, 6Music airplay; multiple festival appearances; debut single on Popty Ping Records). Since 2015 Campfire Social has existed merely as a bedroom project. It wasn’t until late in 2016 that a final lineup was decided and the band released the single ‘Nothing Nowhere Never Now’, listed by Adam Walton (BBC Wales), Rock Current (podcast) and Drunk on Music (Blog) in their best of 2016 roundups.
That song is now one of two tracks from the newly released Wellbeing EP selected for the A-list by BBC Radio Wales resulting in continued airplay, a live session with Janice Long and further BBC 6 music plays. Now the band have taken on a ‘full steam ahead’ philosophy, performing as much as possible including a scheduled appearance at this years festival number 6 and a trip to South Korea, with the Backing of Focus Wales and WAI, for this years Zandari Festa.
