This new concept focuses on the true meaning of techno and gives you amazing international acts plus only the best local DJ talent, chosen by both Mark and Bianca. Of course this is Mark's birthday, so there will be plenty of celebrations. But the main focus here is the music. Support the true techno sound. Let’s see you there.
THE ANXIOUS LIVE
BLACKOUT AUDIO | PLANET RHYTHM | TMMR | AUDIO ASSAULT | COMPOUND | WE CALL IT HARD | BLUELINE | GOBSMACKED | SUBMISSIONS
The Anxious are Mark Anxious and Chrissi, who have been producing under this name since 1998. Their sound is characteristically dark and uncompromising, with a musical message that many have imitated, but failed to deliver. They burst onto the techno scene with a series of punishing releases on some of the worlds top electronic labels of the time, as well as their own Blackout Audio imprint.
Classic's such as 'Beginning Of The End' and 'Visions Of A Motion' on Planet Rhythm and Compound, soon meant that these two soon caught the attention of many of the leading techno jocks such as Dave Clarke, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and of course Joey Beltram.
Their music defined the sound of techno music at the turn of the millennium, leading to countless demands worldwide for them to produce a live experience to match their breath-taking release schedule. In 2005 they performed a ground breaking live appearance at the leading global techno event, the legendary Circuito in Sao Paulo Brazil - the recording of which is still talked about today.
In 2006 and 2007 they released music on Chris Liebing's former Fine Audio label as well as joining forces with Arms and Audio Assault records to release a series of blistering EP's that again featured high on the playlists of DJ's such as Dave Clarke and DJ Rush, amongst others.
Refusing to stagnate, they have reshaped their production into something that takes the newer sound of dark, sub-bass driven electronic techno to a whole new level. The results are out now, with an even stronger message. Recent releases have appeared on TMMR, Gobsmacked, Planet Rhythm, We Call It Hard and Blackout Audio. They performed a truly brilliant set at the massive Boomtown Festival last year. Their album is due to be released on their label Blackout Audio in the coming months.
Check their groundbreaking live set. Teaming up with Allen and Heath and the Xone Series, this is one act you simply cannot afford to miss.
MARK EG
BLACKOUT AUDIO | PLANET RHYTHM | TMMR| WE CALL IT HARD | GODSMACKED | CITY WALL | YIN YANG | HYDRAULIX AND MORE.
A main player in the music industry for almost 25 years, Mark EG has transmitted his musical message across the globe many times over, reaching several different generations with countless different styles of electronic music. He has achieved this with a unique and anarchic approach to music that have won him many awards and accolades. His energy and passion for sound is quite simply unparalleled.
As a performing DJ his musical skill is unquestionable and his stage antics are legendary. You never quite know what he's going to play, or do. Previous shows have involved chainsaws, smashed decks, 12ft ladders, bags of flour and surprising looks from event security personnel. His fans even have their own 'Mark EG' chant - which booms out like thunder from the moment he steps up to the decks.
Mark's most recent weekly radio show takes place every Wednesday on Megapolis 89.5FM. 'Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out' focuses on the wonderful world of techno, electronica and more. It's one you certainly don't want to miss.
A devoted music producer and mastering engineer, Mark spends the week in his Leeds based studio remixing and releasing music on some of the worlds top record labels under various different pseudonyms. He owns several record labels of his own including Blackout Audio and EG-303.
He also teaches people the art of making music with his own music school - enabling him to give invaluable tips and tricks to those who want to get ahead in the music industry.
His main passion and love continues to be ‘proper’ techno.
JON CONNOR (ALIASES: DISCO DIRT, LUNDSTRAM, CODE BREAKER)
BUBBLEJAM
A man who lives and breathes techno, making his mark internationally with many accomplishments and a huge devotion to the genre to go with it. Hailing from Wales, he is regarded as a shining light in the resurgence of underground techno, a purist crusading against the soulless watered down modern interpretation of the genre that is often regarded by many as authentic.
Having DJ'd and produced for 15 years, breaking into the UK Warehouse rave scene in the 90s, it didn't take long for Jon to become famed around the country with his energetic and cutting edge sets, seeking the most underground white labels, and lesser known B Sides, ever concentrating on a floor shaking meticulous groove.
No stranger to the studio, and with aliases 'Lundstram' and 'Code Breaker' to concentrate in other aspects of Electronic Music, Jon has released on various international labels such as Subcult, Technodrome, Central Music, Valvula, Choooose and Supertech, to name but a few. As well as this he has frenetically toured many countries and entertained crowds at some of the biggest events and festivals Europe has to offer.
2016 saw him launch his Bubble Jam events brand and record label. Keep an eye out and be sure to check out one of the most dedicated techno enthusiasts the UK has to offer!
ALISHA LAWLER
Alisha love for dance music evolved back in the early nighties. Her varied taste for the many styles of music derived from house, tribal house, and progressive and finally her focus and commitment in 2005 set to techno.
She opened her own record shop called Reality Records, in St Helens which she later transformed into a DJ training and music production facility helping young uneducated children to learn the art of mixing and producing.
Since then time and technology forever changing never put a stop to her DJing and learning new skills. The change over from vinyl to MP3 began in 2010 were her taste for techno expanded even further experiencing the sounds of the darker techno labels from Berlin. It was then through making friends with various promoters she was invited to play at events such as Detached, Future Past, Code, Dubtek, Playground, Massi, Tribe, Remission and resident at Litmus Liverpool allowing her to play alongside, Perc, RadioActive Man, Jay Clarke, MeatFree. With many more future bookings Alisha’s DJ career has flourished in the underground scene.
Alisha passion and commitment to the music she loves continues, supporting all events near and far, which has given her inspiration for her sets as well as focusing on production and releasing her own sounds. She later adopted the stage name of LNRS - Late Night Riot Starter through her heavy, energetic sets.
This is a girl who knows what she wants for the future, but for now is hitting full steam ahead into her DJ’ing & productions work.
Watch out.
BRAYING (LIVERPOOL)
Braying is the Techno alias of local Liverpool legend Rich Furness. After understanding pure 90’s Techno, Rich started Jasbof, a night that ran completely against the grain of Liverpool’s focus on house and put on music that no-one else dared or even knew existed. A long standing resident at Chibuku and Abandon Silence, his sound is consistently evolving and he still constantly pushes new sounds, and he’s just as adept barricading dancefloors with wobbly bass rumblers as he is glitchy Disco. The past couple if years have seen him DJ and produce under his Braying alias, focusing on the Techno sound he has followed for nearly twenty years, and his hard hitting Techno sets are devastating.
The disobedience to trends and instant credibility remains, staying true to the passion that started in the unfashionable dancefloors he first inhabited well over a decade ago, and which is why his musical involvement will continue to transcend the half hearted.
