Brother Zulu is led by Lawrence Ajadi and Max Tuohy, two musicians with distinctively different musical backgrounds. Max, previously signed to RCA records at the age of 16, has already performed alongside the likes of Jason Mraz, Dizzee Rascal, Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner, Ellie Goulding and Eliza Doolittle, as well as supporting Diana Vickers on her UK Tour. Lawrence on the other hand, a jazz pianist and classically trained flautist who’s played under the likes of Robert Glasper and Riaan Vosloo, is currently balancing producing and performing music with a Physics degree at Imperial College London. The merging of these creative minds creates the one-of-kind dynamic Brother Zulu will be famous for.

Few artists can thank a petty scrap outside a club for the creative spark for their music, but for Petrie - it might have been divine intervention. The alt-pop duo, comprised of George and Better Laurence were working on their first bit of music in Laurie’s garage in the summer of 2015 - the tune was there, but the lyrics were still some way off. “We went to go pick up some friends of ours at a club in Brighton” vocalist George explains and that soon after a fight broke out, with the pair trying to protect their friends. Nothing too serious, thankfully, but that incident inadvertently sparked a brainwave when they got back to the studio. “Lyrically, our stuff is very much based on that event. So that was the start of Petrie really, and all it took was a stiletto around the head!”

With 3 years experience fronting one of the UK's most prolific student Big Bands at Leeds University, Loucin Moskofian has blossomed from a creative bedroom talent into a powerhouse of a performer. Having performed with jazz greats such as Lianne Carroll and in festivals ranging from the visionary Brainchild festival to the North Sea Jazz Festival, amongst some of the industry’s greatest pioneers, Loucin derives inspiration from both the traditional jazz and soul greats through to the intimate neo-soul singers of today. Showcasing a salacious blend between beautifully reworked covers and emotive original material, Loucin is as much a refreshing vocalist as she is a captivating performer.
