Jon Brookes: After Show Charity Fundraiser
About this Event
Cooking Soup Promotions, with the support of Notting Hill Arts Club, dedicate an evening to celebrating the life of Charlatans' renowned drummer Jon Brookes, who sadly passed away earlier this year. While the aim of the evening is to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, the intention is to have as much fun as Jon surely would have done, bearing in mind his own DJing exploits for Cooking Soup.
'The reason we want to do this event is mainly to thank Jon Brookes for all the help and love he had given to us,' say Cooking Soup Promotions. 'His DJ performance at Cooking Soup in Brixton was the stuff of legends. He played for five hours, putting records on and running round to dance. We have a loyal following and Jon had time for each and everyone there. This is why his premature death has hit everyone associated with Cooking Soup so hard. I suppose we just want to say goodbye and thank you with a room full of Charlatans fans.'
Notting Hill Arts Club DJs Cheap Date and Slim Jimmy Two Coats will be supported by Cooking Soup DJs and will be playing right through until 2am.
The evening will follow on from the A Night For Jon Brookes: The Charlatans and Friends performance at The Royal Albert Hall, which will also benefit The Brain Tumour Charity. 'It's our way of raising money for research into and awareness of a cancer that will unfortunately affect many lives as it has ours,' say The Charlatans.
Cooking Soup Promotions and Notting Hill Arts Club will donating the pre-sale ticket revenue to the The Brain Tumour Charity, with further collections to be taken during the evening. Billetto have been extremely supportive and will be donating all pre-sale booking fees to the cause as well.
