Nathan Haines Session with Q&A

02/10/2013

About this Event

Warners Classics and Jazz recording artist Nathan Haines performs his latest album “The Poet’s Embrace” in an intimate environment – with the added bonus of a question and answer session.

Nathan’s 9th solo album was released in the UK in May of this year to excellent reviews, and sees him return to his acoustic jazz roots with the album being recorded in just two days with no mixing or overdubs and straight to a 1960′s Ampex 2-track tape machine.

Although he may be best remembered by Londoners for his groundbreaking ‘crossover’ albums “Sound Travels” and “Squire for Hire” featuring US soul legend Marlena Shaw, over his 20 year career Haines has collaborated with hundred’s of artists including Jamiroquai, Louie Vega and Masters at Work, 4 Hero, Mark de Clive Lowe and Marlena Shaw.

Nathan is known as a producer of many styles including drum and bass and many forms of dance music, and is also known as an international DJ, blending and playing a vast array of styles – which means his performances are never rooted in just one sound or tradition.

The concert will feature UK pianist Tim Lapthorn, long term collaborator and band member Daniel Crosby on drums, and Neil Charles on acoustic bass, and although the set will be centred around this latest album, expect to hear the width and breadth of Nathan’s take on jazz, soul and beyond in this very special event.

Following the Q&A there will be a two set session by the Nathan Haines Quintet: Nathan Haines – Saxaphone, Mike Patto – Keys, Leon Stenning – Guitar, Davide Giovannini – Drums, Andy Hamill – Bass.

Doors: 5:30 pm, Q&A: 7:30 pm, Session: 8:30 pm
