BURDEN OF THE NOOSE (Birmingham)

http://burdenofthenoose.com/

Burden of the Noose have been creating a dirty, angry chaos of sludge and grind since their inception in 2012. Hailing from the home of heavy metal, the Birmingham quintet, with ex-members of Mistress, Sally, Godsize and Out For Blood, belch out a sound that combines huge blackened riffs that sidle between break-neck blasts and toe-tapping groove, with a vocal assault that’s pure banshee evil.

As Andy Thorley of MaximumVolumeMusic.com puts it “this is not music for the faint of heart, but if anger and aggression are your thing then BOTN are the thing for you. “

Extensive gigging throughout the UK and Ireland over the last few years has seen Burden play with the likes of Orange Goblin, Raging Speedhorn and Vallenfyre, while 2015 has been a particularly special year. Following support slots with Eyehategod and Goatwhore Burden went on to win the Birmingham leg of the Metal to the Masses, culminating in a slot on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock.

Consisting of vocalist Andy Barraclough (ex-Out for Blood), guitarists Scott Cooper (Godsize, Vicious Bastard, Our Earth’s Blood) and Edward Chester (Out for Blood), bassist Darren Donovan (Mistress, Sally, Kroh) and drummer Richard Stanton, Burden have released one EP and one single to date. Another six-track recording, produced by Eyal Levi (Job for a Cowboy, Six Feet Under and The Black Dahlia Murder) is awaiting release.

“See-sawing frenetically between mid-paced grindcore, turbo-charged sludge-metal and face-lacerating doom, this is ugly, ugly, ugly territory.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“…if you do find the thought of the hellish chaos of Iron Monkey mixed with the depressive sludge of Moloch, topped off with bits of grind and doom and -oh fuck it JUST GET THIS THING IN YOUR EAR CANALS.” – Tight To The Nail

ABSOLUTION (Birmingham)

https://www.facebook.com/absolutionuk/

Absolution were a Birmingham-based death metal band formed by former Benediction / Cerebral Fix bass player Paul Adams during the winter on 1991. The first stable line up of the band consisted of Neil Hadden on vocals (a friend of Paul’s – Neil had previously auditioned for Benediction after Barney Greenway had left to join Napalm Death), Jason Woods on drums (previously with Birmingham thrash band Dawnblade) and guitarists Richard Harwood and Gorden Bicknell.

It was this line up of Absolution that played their debut gigs with Leamington Spa death metallers Impaler and Warlord UK during 1992. This year also saw this line up of the band record their only studio recording to date – the 6 track demo “Remittance Of Penance”. Throughout 1993, Absolution continued to play throughout the UK with bands as diverse as death metallers such as Benediction and Burial to hardcore bands such as Decadence Within. The early part of 1994 saw Absolution officially disband.

With a rejuvenated friendship and personal differences resolved between original members Neil Hadden (vocals) and Richard Harwood (guitar), 2012 saw Absolution reform. Guitarist Adam Jenkins, bass player Andy Lawson and drummer William Stokes have now completed the new-look line up. Absolution played their first gig since 1993 at Scruffy Murphey's, Birmingham (England) on Saturday 28th June 2014, and have continued to gig since.

TEN TON SLUG (Galway, Ireland)

https://tentonslug.bandcamp.com

Based in Galway and originally from the depths of Connemara in the west of Ireland, Ten Ton Slug has ingested 5 humans and leaves a trail of sludge/groove metal in its wake.

Some say it came from the bog, others claim it originated in the mountains, what is known for sure is that its first victims were Sean and Micheal Sullivan. Gigging started in early 2014 with former bassist Ragas, who escaped in 2015. New bassist Eoghain Wynne joined in 2015 around the time vocals were appointed to lung slug Ronán Ó ‘hArrachtáin.

Ten Ton Slug released a well received two-track live demo ‘Live at the Oaks’ in September 2015, and has gigged extensively around Ireland since, most notably winning the Metal 2 the Masses Ireland competition in May 2016 and playing to a packed New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Festival 2016 in the UK.

Expect to see Ten Ton Slug leave its sludgy trail around Ireland and the UK once again once it's debut EP 'Brutal Gluttonous Beast' is released at the end of September.

The Slug is hungry.

The Slug shows no mercy.
