Sonic Sketch: Palomino Party E.P. Launch Party
About this Event
Full Line Up: Palomino Party, Jesus, John & Whitney, FRANCE Band, Ethan Beer
This October, join us to celebrate the release of the latest E.P. from up and coming Welsh art-rockers, Palomino Party.
Palomino Party are an electrifying art-rock four-piece from Cardiff, whose modern sound belies an old-world glamour. The release of their new 4 track E.P., 'ACT II' marks a huge step up for the Cardiff-based band with a darker, more developed sound with richer and more complex structures, all recorded at the historic Rockfield Studios. The new tracks perfectly illustrate the band's development with the punchier post-punk jabs of "Quarterback" to the howling "Deseo" and theatrics of "The Black Russian". Palomino have deepened the knife and revealed a dark, more glamourous, and sexually charged being. The band are setting out their stall early by releasing their latest music video. With more than a nod to the birth of the pop video in the early 80s, this retro film is as stylish as the music is thrilling and features Jack Hartley of gripping BBC drama, Peaky Blinders. Recognised in their home-town of Cardiff as the go-to live band for escapism and pure pleasure, Palomino are a band whose star is most definitely in the ascendant.
London four piece, Jesus, John & Whitney draw inspiration from early 70’s grunge and 80/90’s rock, influencing them to create their own hybrid of grunge, punk and blues with a high energy stage presence to match.
Joining us from Rochdale is France, an Indie trio that have just supported Scouting For girls and are known for playing sets packed with punchy bass riffs, rhythmic beats, rich harmonies and sing-along choruses.
Opening the show is Ethan Beer, a young London based singer-songwriter who’s known for his folk inspired acoustic pop that has seen him play at big name venues including the O2 Academy in Islington.
