About this Event
(NB not 3rd Sept as shown on some flyers)
Some describe their sound as ‘bluesy rock with hip hop rhythms’, but even this kind of juxtapositional statement doesn’t quite cover it. The band’s organic way of songwriting gives you ‘the feeling that every single second has been filled with crafted perfection’ (Right Chord Music). With a sound that brings Jack White or the Black Keys to mind, Little Brother Eli take strong and powerful vocals, growling guitar lines and gritty, biting solos to create their own twist on Alternative Rock.
The band was formed in Oxford during early 2013 by bassist Josh Rigal and vocalist Alex Grew. They were soon joined by Linus Taylor & Adam Stowe on guitar and Benji Page on drums before releasing their Debut EP in May the same year.
Lucy Leave
Having played together for many years under various guises, Jenny Oliver (bass, vocals), Mike Smith (guitar, vocals), and Pete Smith (drums, vocals) present their first project as a trio: LUCY LEAVE. After several months of improvising, writing, and rehearsing, they emerged in April 2015 with a collection of noisy, psychedelic, punky pop songs. For just over a year, LUCY LEAVE have been launching their sounds towards a mostly unsuspecting Oxford crowd who speak of a ‘rawness’ of sound that is ‘almost bohemian in its punkness’.
WOLFS
Hey, we're a two piece female rock band from Oxfordshire and Shropshire. We've only been a band since January where we were originally in a four piece, then became a two piece right before we were about to record our first EP 'No Good For Me' (out 27th May 2016). We recorded the EP with the amazing Ben (guitarist in Lower Than Atlantis) and Adam (singer in the band Never Hill). Our music is a mixture of some of our favourite genres. Each of our songs have a different vibe to them which is quite fun, some more up tempo and pop/punky and others a little darker and rocky.
My Crooked Teeth
My Crooked Teeth is an Oxford-based solo project, with a love for concise and beautiful songwriting. In the vein of his heroes Nick Lowe, Benjamin Gibbard and John K Samson, Crooked Teeth's songs are short, elegantly melodic and each have a story to tell.
2016 will see My Crooked Teeth begin work on his sophomore release and continue to bolster his formidable live reputation.
