About this Event

ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING @ SURYA FRIDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER

Full Line Up: Hailler, Biggs, My Pet Shark, It’s Own Animal

This September, promoters Absent Kelly are putting on a very special

night to celebrate the release of Hailler’s debut EP.

Hailler are a trio from Surrey who are, in their own words, “making

music, having fun and looking for a reason to not go to university”.

Their brand of Alt Indie Rock combines the raw, energetic feeling of

garage rock with the catchy choruses of Indie. This evening will

celebrate the release of the band’s debut EP which promises to deliver

a taste of the energy and electricity of live performances that the

boys have treated crowds to at venues like The Comedy in Leicester

Square.

Joining them on the show is Biggs. This Hampshire/Surrey trio play

heavy, bluesy Indie that is dark, atmospheric and unique. Born of the

solo project of frontman, Tom Taylor-Biggs (who has supported big

names like The Delays), the band are also on the verge of releasing

their much anticipated debut EP and, in the meantime, having been

giving crowds a taster of what is to be expected on stage at venues

like Shoreditch’s 93 Feet East and the Boileroom in Guildford.

Also on the evening’s bill is My Pet Shark. My Pet Shark are a Sussex

quartet that play Funky Indie, think Red Hot Chilli Peppers with less

mention of California. The band are relatively new to the scene,

having only started playing live in the Spring, but have already

crafted themselves a confident sound that has bagged them slots at

various venues around their local area, as well as a slot at this

year’s Beach Dreams Festival. This will be their first trip to London,

so let’s give them the warm welcome they deserve.

Opening the show is It’s Own Animal. This London based collective will

be playing a very special acoustic set for the evening, stripping back

their unique sound to it’s bones. In their recorded music, you can

hear a number of influences from pop and rock, to flamenco, folk and

soul, combining to make beautiful atmospheric indie/pop. This rare

opportunity to see It’s Own Animal stripped back, is sure to be a

treat.
