Official Elbow After party weekender at The Roadhouse!
About this Event
We’re delighted and excited here at The Roadhouse to have our mini ELBOW season ahead of us this February alongside loads of other esoteric and exciting events.
First up are the 4 official after parties we’re throwing for the boys' home coming shows at the Apollo. To celebrate in style we’ve decided to invite 4 of our favourite club nights to make every night the ultimate post gig party.
Thursday Feb 5th sees the return of Phil Beckett’s LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL. Born at South, spending its teenage
years at The Roadhouse and now found in the suburbs growing old disgracefully (as Bop Local) this long running night of unrestrained rock and roll excess screams "book Friday off work now"!
Friday 6th brings the return of the nuclear party bomb that is CHIPS WITH EVERYTHING. These self declared weirdos, outcasts and maniacs have been a mainstay of the left field club scene for over a decade now, albeit with a slightly nomadic existence, you can be sure wherever they lay their hats is where the party's at.
Saturday 7th. GET A GRIP. Andy Woods has dj'd on the
Manchester club scene for nearly 20 years, keeping his
head down and letting the music do the talking. Playing
in-between the touring bands at the Roadhouse led to cult
night 'Get a Grip' that burned brilliantly for 18 months,
followed by a very long residency at 'Smile', where the
temple of left field indie combined with an 'anything
goes' attitude continued. Andy's roots in 80's clubbing, shaped his style, where disco sits comfortably next to shoe gaze, alongside northern soul, new wave and american college rock. Afficionados sign up here.
Sunday 8th. LOADED. Hip-hop, pop and a big slice of rock from old school Manc favourites Stan Chow and Michael J
Fox.
Unashamedly populist with tune after tune Loaded had a
massively successful run at the legendary Planet K (now Mint Lounge) and it was a rare night indeed that the Elbow contingent weren’t there partying the night away after their shift ended here.
It's £5 entry each night. More details on that to follow very shortly.
And then of course comes the incredible news that ELBOW
themselves return home on February 24th to play a very intimate and stripped down show for 200 lucky winners of
the Passport Back to the Bars season of special War Child gigs.
Tickets are allocated on a lottery basis and all the money
raised goes to a very worthy cause. We’re honoured that
they’ve chosen The Roadhouse and it’s a great gesture
from the boys to the place they call their spiritual home!
Guy Garvey in his own words..
“Elbow are proud to have been associated with War Child
for over a decade. The work that War Child continues to do throughout the world is truly humbling. We were part of
the original Passport shows, and to be able to participate
again on its 10th anniversary is amazing. To return to The
Roadhouse, our spiritual home in Manchester, just makes it
even better.”
