A few days ago, I was thinking to myself 'Wow, going to an actual pub?! That's almost like an in-person Zoom call'. And that's when I realised that something has to change. I had been in the house too long. I needed to get out.
I needed the 12th April to roll around ASAP. Which is why I've been so delighted to see the scenes up and down the country, of people queuing for HOURS in some cases just for the privilege of sitting in a freezing cold beer garden, instead of the monotony of their own homes. It's enough to make you proud to be British.
When you think about it, it's actually kind of surreal. If you’d told us eighteen months ago that one day we’d be so excited for a pub to open that we’d be queuing up at midnight for the privilege, we would’ve laughed in your face.
But that’s exactly what has happened. And we wanna be part of it.
A few days ago, we were seeing headlines like this:

Fast forward forty-eight hours, and that hasn't happened at all. In fact, literally the opposite has happened. Turns out not even snow and hail will keep us from queueing for hours for the privilege of buying a pub-bought pint after all these months. Up and down the country, we’re seeing scenes like this:

Well not exactly, but you see what we mean – it is cold enough!!!
It’s so weird to finally be able to spend longer than 60 minutes outside the confines of our homes, after having spent the last 3 and a half months trying to recreate that rooftop vibe in our own homes (FYI cocktails always taste better when they’re made by someone else). It's so great to see everybody out there braving the weather, all in the name of the pub.
