A new kind of Melody; How VR is set to be the new future of festivals in the UK

With obvious challenges within the music and events industry right now, many venues and festivals are looking to showcase artists in innovative ways by utilizing platforms such as Melody VR. Melody VR gives users the opportunity to stream live events from around the world on their smartphones via and app or with a VR headset.

Tickets will now be virtual and so concerts in high demand won’t be sold out and will be more inclusive.

 

Gone has the summer of festival camping and unsanitary porta-loos and in comes a new technology in the comfort of your own home. Will it be a bit naff in comparison? - Possibly, but it is still important to support big artists and is clearly better than completely cancelling plans and forgoing a new experience.

 

One of the biggest Events for the summer is Wireless and it will now be featured as Wireless Connect 2020 — “A three day virtual festival that will come live and direct to your home on MelodyVR from 3-5 July”.

 

To get the ‘real’ experience many sell out shows were recorded for an audience before lockdown and as the country singer Michael Ray explains it “gives fans a chance to experience the live show from anywhere in the venue, including on stage with me.”

 

Alexandra Palace were quick to utilize Melody to showcase some of their best gigs, and if you are into something more on the punk rock side, they are hosting Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes to bring a sell out show to the masses with a fiery and somewhat sweaty 360°  performance.
